Discover the Power of Clear Intention
It can sometimes be difficult to identify what we truly want. Of course, everyone wants to feel happy, to prosper, to enjoy loving relationships, and to live healthy and meaningful lives. It’s easy to think about what we don’t want, especially if we are focused primarily on our current outer circumstances. Getting crystal clear on our goals is a way we can cooperate with God’s plan for Good in our lives. What exactly does that look like for you? What do you really want?
When we visit a restaurant to enjoy a meal, most of us would never ask the server, “What do you think I should order?” And yet we do that with our lives when we are uncertain about what it is we desire. Expecting someone or something to decide for us keeps us stagnant and unsatisfied.
We Receive What We Expect
It is a Great Law of Life that we receive what we expect. When we are unclear about our expectations, we are not open, ready, and willing to receive. The Divine is waiting for you to make up your mind! When we are decisive and confident about what we want to experience, it’s as if God is saying, “Fantastic! You have finally asked for what you want. Now we can get busy!”
Jesus promised us that if we ask in his name (nature or consciousness), then we will receive and “our joy will be complete” (John 16:24). He demonstrated a consciousness of complete confidence in his Oneness with the Father (the Divine Unmanifest, or Unlimited Substance). When we are absolutely clear about what we want to experience, the Universe always responds with a reverberating “YES!”
“Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.” – John 16:24
Make a List of What You Want
One way we can do this is to make a list of what we want to achieve. It is helpful to actually write down your list using paper and pen or colored pencils, rather than using a laptop, phone, or other electronic device. This allows us to slow down and really think about what we desire.
Each day, review your list in the morning during your quiet time, and again in the evening as you prepare for bed. This practice will keep your intentions at the forefront of your mind. You have access to your subconscious mind as you are beginning to wake up in the morning and as you are falling asleep at night. Thinking about your list immediately upon arising or when drifting off to sleep is like planting a seed in your consciousness!
Create a Statement of Intention
It can also be helpful to create a statement of intention that summarizes your goals and aspirations. The affirmation at the end of this article can be useful, or you can use it as an example to create your own.
Pay attention to any thoughts or feelings that arise as you review your list. These can point to old habits of mind that are calling to be released. Use a statement such as this to negate any unconscious beliefs that are revealed to you: “This thought has no power over me!” Then speak aloud your statement of intention to affirm the Truth. Your words have prospering power!
You Are Created to Live a Life of Abundance
Always remember that the Great Mystery has placed the desires of your heart within you. The Bible reminds us that it is “God’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom” (Luke 12:32). You are created to live a life of abundance. Use this practice of focusing on your goals to cooperate with the Great Law of Life, and you will be amazed at the results.
AFFIRM:
I AM clear about what I desire, and the Universe joyfully responds!
